KYE HECK

Kye Heck is the Director of Training and Performance, APEC's Tyler location gerneral manager, as well as Vice President of the company. Kye's passion for helping people fuels from his own transformation that APEC helped him achieve. Kye has been with APEC since 2006 as an athlete and 2007 as an employee.

 

Kye was a basketball player in high school but soon after rose to the top as a starting winger for the University of Texas at Austin. As part of the Longhorns, he helped his team finish top 8 in the Nation at the Collegiate Rugby Championships. He notched the first Longhorn score versus Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry.

 

Heck studied Kinesiology at UT Austin and earned a BS in Health Promotion and Fitness, and a minor in psychology with a focus in Strength and Conditioning. Here he earned the award for top health education major of the year given by the American Association of Health Education which is a faculty nomination.

 

Kye Heck has had an impact training countless athletes coming out of APEC since 2007 from collegiate athletes, to MLB, NFL, Combine, Pro fighters, and more. 

 

Kye has presented on multiple human performance topics including work at Nike World Headquarters. Coach Heck is one of the few worldwide coaches named to the Elite NIKE Trainer Network.

Coaching Career Highlights:

  • Helped Minta Spears of Bullard on her way to Parade All-American in high school and assisted in her comeback from a Freshman season ACL injury at Texas Tech to go on and lead Vanderbilt in assists her Junior year. 

  • Directed and executed training for Post ACL client and former Texas Longhorn Linebacker Peter Jinkens who after training impressed scouts and will continue his career professionally in Germany.

  • Directed and executed pro day training extreme transformation for Dalton Santos (La Tech) and Justice Liggins (SFA). Dalton went from 264lbs to 237lbs while taking his 40 from a 4.87-4.58 and his pro agility from a 4.66 to a 4.30. Justice Liggins wowed scouts at the NFL Regional Combine in Houston posting a 42.5'' vertical and a 4.45 laser 40yd dash. 

  • Developed and implemented training for over a dozen MLB and MiLB athletes including Philip Humber (Perfect Game - Retired), Josh Tomlin (Indians-World Series-MLB Record Holder), Michael Kopech (White Sox- 105mph fastball, #1 MiLB pitching prospect), Brandon Belt (Giants, 2x world series champ), Nick Rumbelow (Yankess, POTY), A.J. Minter (Braves, Top Prospect), JB Moss (SEC Champion TAMU, Braves), Colton Brewer (Yankees), Nash Walters (Brewers), Riley Smith (Diamondbacks), Travis Chick (Marlins-Retired), MiLB/MLB Program Development Lead for: Corey Taylor (Mets), Ty Dameron (Athletics), Colton Turner (White Sox, POY), Hoby Milner (Rays), Zach Lee (Rays), Grayson Huffman (Blue Jays), Luke Wakamatsu (Indians), Parker Mushinski (Astros), Lukas Schiraldi (Marlins), Tejay Antone (Reds), Shane Broyles (Rockies)

  • Pro Golfer Stetson McMillan (US OPEN Sectional Qualifier) - Added 13+ mph to club head speed and over 50 yards distance per club.

  • NFL: 2018; 10 athletes drafted, 19 signed in NFL draft. Heck led prograom development for the 2018 NFL combine that had 2 top overall performers in Malik Jefferson(LB) and Dylan Cantrell(WR). Both had the #1 SPARQ score as well. Dylan has been training in APEC system since he was 11 years old. In 2018 alone, 28 combine/pro day athletes grabbed 53 top 10 performances in competing events. 2017; Worked with Patrick Mahomes from 8th grade to Texas Tech and eventually being selected the 10th overall pick(1st round) by the Kansas City Chiefs. Program lead for the fastest linebacker at the 2017 NFL combine (Duke Riley) along with 6 total top performer marks. APEC supported 14 players that made it to the NFL in 2017 including Dede Westbrook (4.27 - 40).

  • APEC has had 9 athletes recruited and accepted in the United State Military Academies (West Point, Navy, Air Force).

  • Worked with elite gymnasts: Sidney Dukes (Kentucky freshman athlete of the year), Drew Watson (Auburn), Sarah Shaffer (Arkansas), Danica Abanto (Ohio State)

  • Served countless youth athletes from middle school to college and professionals.
